We open this auction with what I consider one of the, if not the greatest piece of Veterinary Dog Patent Medicine advertising ever created. Round, lithographed metal sign from Dr. H. Clay Glover of New York City depicting a very detailed Bulldog with a medal attached to his collar. The medal reads: GLOVER’S VETERINARY MANGE REMEDY. This sign is an impressive 13 ½” diameter. Beside advertising his Imperial Dog Remedies, the sign also hawks his free booklet, “Diseases of Dogs and How to Feed.” The condition is excellent with just very minor scuffs, edge stains, and tiny scratches mentioned for completeness. It originally hung with a small chain from two holes in the top of the rim. This chain is missing. One of only two known examples and truly a “Museum Quality” piece as the other example traveled the United States as part of a three year museum exhibition titled, “Pet’s in America.” If you require any additional photos or information about this fantastic sign, do not hesitate to ask. Sold without reserve with an estimate of $3000-$6000+.
